We made the most of our drizzly visit, however, by visiting the Tillamook cheese factory, going to tractor shows, touring the air museum and other such local favorites.
I thought we had left the cold behind when we went to left the coast for Crater Lake. However, there was still snow on the ground of this high elevation volcanic crater lake. Views were very dramatic, but I too frigid the first couple of days to focus on much photography. By mid-visit, the sun came out and we had about 2 days of glorious weather. At that point we hated to leave as our vacation highlight of visiting the island in the middle of crater lake and hiking to the top of the island volcano was thwarted by the high winds that did damage to the boat which takes you from the crater edge to the island (see photo above of Crater Lake).
All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed spending time with Steve and Jill and would give the coast another chance if the opportunity arose.
